With the 2025-26 Premier League season underway, some teams are already establishing themselves as title threats, while others are still finding their groove.

For those teams that have yet to hit their stride, many of them are still trying to integrate their key signings into their respective systems.

With that in mind, read on as we dissect how summer transfers could make a difference and their impact on the Premier League odds.

Viktor Gyokeres – Arsenal

As Arsenal prepare for another high-stakes Champions League campaign and a third consecutive Premier League title charge, the buzz surrounding their offseason acquisition of Viktor Gyokeres continues to grow. And for good reason – the Swedish forward could be exactly what Mikel Arteta’s side needs to take the final step from nearly-men to champions.

Gyokeres, 27, enjoyed a breakout season in Portugal in 2024-25, scoring 54 goals in all competitions for Sporting and establishing himself as one of Europe’s most lethal – and underrated – strikers. Now, as Arsenal look to get over the hump and win their first major trophy in more than five years, Gyokeres could prove to be the player that’s been missing from Arteta’s toolkit in recent seasons.

While Arsenal have built a technically superb, fluid attacking side under Arteta, they’ve lacked a true No. 9 with power and presence. Gabriel Jesus, though tireless and creative, hasn’t consistently produced in front of goal, while Kai Havertz has offered flashes of brilliance in a false-nine role but is far from a natural finisher.

Enter Gyokeres.

With a powerful frame, explosive acceleration, and excellent hold-up play, the Swede offers the kind of direct, physical outlet Arsenal have often lacked against deep-defending teams. He thrives in one-on-one situations, drags defenders out of shape, and brings others into play – qualities that would serve Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Martinelli extremely well.

Arsenal fans will be particularly pleased with his performance against Leeds United, as he managed to get on the scoresheet twice. Arsenal could prove very dangerous if that’s a sign of things to come. That is evidenced in the betting lines, with the Gunners second-favourites to be crowned league champions at the time of writing.

Matheus Cunha – Manchester United

Manchester United’s summer rebuild kicked into high gear when they signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves – a move that many believe could reignite the club’s faltering attack and inject much-needed dynamism into Old Trafford.

The Brazilian forward arrives on the back of a standout Premier League season, having netted 15 goals and regularly delivering consistent performances in a Wolves side that punched above its weight. But it’s not just his stats that caught the eye of United’s new boss, Ruben Amorim – it’s Cunha’s relentless drive, intelligent movement, and flair that make him a perfect fit for the club’s new attacking vision.

Coupling his signing with the acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo upfront, the pair could be one of the most high-powered 1-2 punches in the Premier League this season. Regarding the betting lines, United are heavily backed to improve on their most recent campaign and secure a top-half finish.

Florian Wirtz – Liverpool

Liverpool shortened even further in the betting lines to win back-to-back league titles when they announced the signing of superstar Florian Wirtz.

At just 22 years old, Wirtz arrived at Anfield as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking midfielders, having lit up the Bundesliga over the past couple of seasons. With 34 goals and 35 assists across all competitions in his last two seasons, Wirtz has established himself as both one of the best goalscorers and facilitators in world football today.

Additionally, he further adds to Liverpool’s winning mentality, with the German playing a pivotal role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten double in 2023-24.
